Title: From Polycrisis to Thrivability: decolonial evaluation approaches for systems transformation
Panelists: Andrealisa Belzer – CES President Moderator, Florence Etta, Astrid Brousselle, Stephanie Francis, Mutizwa Mukute
Language: English
Presentation Type: Panel
Abstract: This panel will feature contributions from evaluators from a broad range of cultural and geographic contexts, in response to interconnected crises that threaten social equity and ecological sustainability. We will explore a plurality of situationally appropriate approaches that are inclusive of worldviews, knowledge systems, and rightsholders who have been heretofore underrepresented in Canadian evaluation theories, models, and practice. Panelists will discuss the role of decolonial approaches and tools to mitigate the impact of the Polycrisis and to support future conditions for wellbeing within human and natural systems. Through interactive engagement of the audience, panelists will build upon their own examples of progress to strengthen a plurality of situationally appropriate evaluation capacity at individual, organizational, and enabling-environment levels. Together, we will invite cross-cultural sharing of how evaluators are acting as agents of positive change.
